Excellent 5.0
Healthy Paws is one of the oldest pet insurance providers in the USA and insures around 625,000 pets per year.
There is one level of annual coverage – unlimited- which means even the most expensive vet bills are covered.
Claims are usually paid very quickly with Healthy Paws – typically within 24 hours.
We would recommend Healthy Paws for younger pets, as the coverage is reduced if you start coverage when your pet is 4 or older.

The Embrace plan is ideal for kittens and puppies, and also has the most generous multi-pet discounts, so if you’re looking to insure more than one pet Embrace could be for you.
The additional routine wellness plan offered by Embrace is the most generous of all providers too – and will cover everything from the annual wellness exam to spay/neuter surgery.

Pets Best has long been a favorite of ours due to its value-for-money proposition. For almost all pets, Pets Best is right at the top when it comes to how well its priced competitively.
While it does offer cheaper plans that you can see when you click through to the Pets Best website, we display the ‘Elite” plan, which also includes vet exam fees and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture and hydrotherapy.
As a bonus, if you also have a CareCredit card, you can use this to pay your vet bill instead of paying with your savings, and Pets Best will reimburse this card directly.
Price Promise
We guarantee you won't buy the same plan for cheaper anywhere else. In the very unlikely event you do find the same plan for less, we'll refund you the difference upon proof of purchase and coverage.

Trupanion offers one simple pet insurance plan, that’ll cover any accident & new illness. There are no financial caps with the plan, and you have a fixed 10% copay for all claims, plus a lifetime per-incident deductible (flexible to your budget), meaning you’ll only pay a deductible once for each condition your pet has during its lifetime.
Trupanion is unique in offering its VetDirect Pay™ service, meaning that instead of paying the vet bill up front and waiting to be reimbursed, Trupanion can pay your vet directly at checkout.
The way Trupanion pricing works is that it’ll never put pricing up just because your pet gets older. So, if you sign your pet up aged 1 they’ll always be priced as a 1 year old.
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance
Good 4.0
- Complete coverage plan for accidents, illness & optional routine wellness
- Also includes dental disease coverage for no extra cost
- Alternative therapies including acupuncture & chiropractic care covered
- Generous multi-pet discounts
- Use any vet in the USA or Canada
Good 4.0
The ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan is the same policy offered by Spot Pet Insurance, but the reason it scores lower is due to the different annual coverage deductible choices.
If you’re ok with having a $10,000 per year annual coverage amount, which will cover all but the most expensive treatments, then we recommend this plan due to its excellent coverage for accidents, illness, including dental disease, and alternative therapy inclusion which covers chiropractic treatments, acupuncture and hydrotherapy.
The ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan also includes vet exam fees as standard, whereas some other providers charge extra for this coverage.

Good 4.0
The Lemonade plan is usually very competitively priced, although there are some items which can increase the monthly cost, such as vet exam fees, behavioral therapy, dental illness and prescription meds.
There are a number of annual coverage options available, from $5,000 to $100,000 and you can change the coverage every anniversary of your pet’s plan. This is ideal as your pet ages, and you may choose a higher coverage to protect against the most expensive conditions such as hip dysplasia and cancer.
Lemonade also offers a routine wellness plan for your pet’s regular preventative needs.

The Figo plan is an interesting one. On the face of it, it’s a little more expensive than plans from some other providers, but it does have one very nice exclusive perk – it’s the only plan in the USA to offer a 0% copay option, meaning that once you’ve paid your deductible, 100% of the claim will be paid. This is ideal if you’re on a strict budget and want to know exactly what you’ll be paying.
Figo also offers a number of good choices for routine wellness, to cover your pet’s regular preventative care.
